Welcome to inWEM!

 

 

inWEM is a powerful, international network of women and men, who effect positive change in elevating the status of women and young girls in the field of emergency management.  They have a vision, passion and mission to positively impact the lives of those affected by catastrophic events, emergencies and disasters.

 

Please share your thoughts on how we can effectively collaborate with women’s organizations; public and private sector; government; NGO, FBO, and CBOs, and academia to identify research and establish and implement initiatives that will prevent and reduce the affects of disasters on women and girls – our “endangered jewels”.  

 

We are currently establishing plans for the following and invite you to join one of the committees:

○   International Women’s Day educates and celebrates women’s past, present and future economical, political, and social achievements worldwide and throughout history.

○  the 104th Anniversary of International Women’s Day, the 31st Anniversary of the 1984 Conference on Women in Emergency and Fire Service Management, and the 28th Anniversary of Women’s History Month This year’s theme for International Women’s Day, “Celebrating and Inspiring Women in Emergency Manaagement” seeks to strengthen international community’s commitment to put an end to violence against women.

●   The 2014 Induction Ceremony of the “International Women in Homeland Security and Emergency Management Hall of Fame”. 

○   The 4th Annual Gala Reception and Induction Ceremonies will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, in conjunction with the IAEM 62nd Annual Conference & EMEX 2014, scheduled for Nov. 14-19, 2014, at the Grand Hyatt & Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, San Antonio, Texas

             inWEM Theme:  “Making History: Vision, Diversity, Leadership, and Legacy”

●   A 2014 Mentoring Program

○   In support of the IWD’s 2014 theme, “Inspiring Change”, inWEM encourage members and Hall of Fame inductees to share their leadership and resources, to “make a difference, think globally and act locally”; and “ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding”.
