Each year, inWEM recognizes women and/or women organizations, who have made significant contributions to the field of emergency management and to women and children causes.
The inductees, representing pioneers (achievement prior to 1970) and contemporary achievers (1970 – present) are selected because of their outstanding achievements and significant contributions, in the fields of civil defense, emergency management, and homeland security in local, state, tribal, and federal governments; voluntary agencies; faith and community-based organizations; academia; military; and/or the private sector.
They are also selected based on their commitment to women’s and girl’s causes and for their ability to motivate and inspire young women envisioning careers in public service and emergency services.
